ENGLAND v PAKISTAN 1982

At Nottingham, July 17

15-Apr-1983
At Nottingham, July 17. England won by seven wickets. During an opening partnership of 102 in 26 overs between Mudassar and Mohsin, Pakistan, who had won the toss, seemed to have laid the foundation of a larger total than the 250 for six with which they finished. Some good slow bowling by Hemmings, playing in his first match at this level, and Miller, brilliantly supported in the field, slowed Pakistan down. In reply England, gradually gaining momentum, were comfortably within reach of their target once Lamb had survived a hard chance to deep mid-on off Iqbal Qasim when he was 12. Lamb's 118, made in 34 overs, contained fourteen 4s and won him the Man of the Match award. The behaviour of a large crowd, watching in glorious weather, left much to be desired, the ground being frequently invaded by over-enthusiastic spectators.
The attendance was 10,231.
