Gavin Jones passes away

The Eastern Cricket Union would like to announce the sad and tragic loss of Gavin Jones on Wednesday 17 July 2002.

His contribution to the Union for the past 11 years was immeasurable. He has been a great asset to Eastern Cricket Union and his contribution to South African Cricket was of a great magnitude.

As a person, he was a very friendly, helpful individual and displayed remarkable qualities.

The Cricket Fraternity will sorely miss his presence. Gavin, a right hand bat and right arm medium pacer, played his cricket for Northerns between 1997 and 1985. His first class average with the bat was 26.75 with a top score of 67. With the ball he averaged 40.36 with a best of 5/78.
