India v New Zealand 1964-65

This was a disappointing struggle because both sides generally adopted a negative policy

15-Apr-1966
This was a disappointing struggle because both sides generally adopted a negative policy. Some good bowling by Motz and Pollard enabled New Zealand to capture six wickets for 225 runs on the first day, but later they paid dearly for dropping Nadkami when he was 25 at slip and Engineer at 50. This pair put on 143 for the eighth wicket, Engineer making his 90 in under two hours.
New Zealand gave a woeful batting display. Jarvis occupied more than two hours for nine and Morgan spent two hours, thirty-five minutes over 29. Only Reid and Sutcliffe showed any class and once the visitors had avoided the follow-on the cricket became purposeless. On the final day Manjrekar had the satisfaction of getting a hundred in probably his last Test innings.
