Kaneria stars in Habib Bank's massive win

Danish Kaneria and Fahad Masood took five wickets each to skittle Sui Southern Gas Corporation for 122 and complete Habib Bank's innings-and-217-run victory at Quaid-e-Azam Park. Sui Southern Gas Corporation began the day trailing by 271 runs with only six wickets in hand and managed to add only 54 more. Saeed Bin Nasir top-scored with 33 before he fell lbw to Kaneria, who took 5 for 22 to go with his first-innings haul of 8 for 59. Masood, who had taken three second-innings wickets on the third day, finished with 5 for 38.

Karachi Whites' lower-order hung in to secure a tense draw against National Bank of Pakistan at the Southend Club Cricket Stadium. The final day began with National Bank on 161 for 2, looking for quick runs to set Karachi a target. Fawad Alam smashed 79 off 64 balls and the declaration came as soon as Rashid Riaz reached his century. The pair had added 139 for the third wicket and taken their team to 264 for 2, setting Karachi a target of 372. Karachi's second innings got off to a solid start with their openers Asad Shafiq and Ali Asad, who top-scored with 85, added 77. They appeared to be heading towards safety at 182 for 2 but the failure of several batsmen to convert starts resulted in a collapse to 258 for 7. Azam Hussain, the No 8 batsman, rallied by scoring 34 off 36 balls and ensured that Karachi were fighting at 292 for 8 when play ended.

Sarfraz Ahmed blasted 60 off 36 balls and Kamran Sajid scored a run-a-ball 52 to lead Pakistan International Airlines to a stunning victory against Pakistan Customs at the NBP Sports Complex. The match seemed certain to be drawn at the start of the fourth day for Pakistan Customs were 127 for 1 in their second innings, trailing by only six runs. However, there were no other substantial contributions apart from Rameez Raja's 117 and Pakistan Customs lost their last nine wickets for 150 to finish on 284. Najaf Shah was the wrecher-in-chief, taking 6 for 66. However Pakistan Customs had batted for 60 overs, leaving Pakistan International Airlines with a target of 152 at a high asking-rate. Sarfraz and Kamran were up to the challenge though. Sarfraz hit seven fours in his 60 and was unbeaten when Pakistan International Airlines reached the target in only 18.4 overs.

Only 38 overs were possible on the final day as the match between Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited ended in a draw in Sargodha. ZTBL declared on their overnight score of 241 for 6, with a first-innings lead of 85, and SNGPL ended the day with 75 for 4.

Faisalabad finished the final day on 196 for 7 to draw their match against Rawalpindi at the Mirpur Stadium. They began the day trailing Rawalpindi by 127 runs and soon slipped to 41 for 3 in their second innings. However, Ammar Mahmood scored a half-century and contributions from the middle-order batsmen helped erase the deficit and avoid the danger of an innings defeat. Mohammad Rafeez was the pick of Rawalpindi's bowlers, taking 4 for 56.

Beginning the final day against Karachi Blues on 95 for 2, with a lead of 83, Peshawar's batsmen ensured the match was drawn by finishing on 313 for 5 in their second innings at the United Bank Limited Sports Complex. Although none of Peshawar batsmen scored a hundred, four of them made half-centuries, with Akbar Badshah's unbeaten 72 being the top score. As the match meandered to a dull draw, all of Karachi's players, barring the wicketkeeper, had a bowl.

Lahore Ravi finished the third day against Hyderabad on 21 for 2 in the second innings, with an overall lead of 67 at the Lahore City Cricket Association Ground. The star of the day was Lahore Ravi medium-pacer Waqas Ahmed who took 6 for 36 to help bowl out Hyderabad for 172 in the first innings.

No play was possible for the second day in a row in the match between Islamabad and Multan at the Diamond Club Ground. The game ended in a draw with Multan on 247 for 8 in the second innings, with an overall lead of 206.

Lahore Ravi v Hyderabad final day

The day witnessed only 13 runs and two wickets - Junaid Zia and Shahnawaz Malik, the overnight batsmen, were both dismissed - as Lahore Ravi limped to 34 for 4 against Hyderabad at the Lahore City Cricket Association Ground before play was called off with the match ending in a draw. Lahore have drawn all their games while Hyderabad had lost two matches before this.
