Morne van Wyk, the hard-hitting wicketkeeper-batsman for the Eagles, will captain Rest of South Africa in their three-day match against Pakistan, which starts on January 6 at Kimberley.
The encounter launches Pakistan's tour, a trip that includes three Tests, five one-day internationals and a Twenty20 International, over a six-week period. The visitors will face a strong team, also featuring Paul Adams, Boeta Dippenaar, Johan Botha and JP Duminy.
Vaughn van Jaarsveld, who impressed when he lined up against the Indians, is given another chance to press for higher honours and Albie Morkel, the brother of Morne Morkel who made his Test debut against India at Durban, is also selected. However, the most interesting inclusion is Yusuf Abdullah, a 23-year-old left-arm paceman from the Dolphins, who has played just three first-class matches.
