New Zealand v Australia 1989-90

At Auckland, March 11

15-Apr-1991
At Auckland, March 11. Australia won by eight wickets. Toss: New Zealand. The pitch, early on. was ideal for seam bowling and Australia all but decided the outcome of the match by taking the first seven wickets for 33. Hadlee, on his last appearance at Eden Park, where he had enjoyed so many of his triumphs, played a magnificent, almost lone-handed innings. He was with Jeff Crowe while 80 were added for the sixth wicket, but from the point when both were 26 Hadlee made all but 1of the runs as he advanced his total to 57. He hit 22 off two overs from Taylor. However, New Zealand's total of 162 was not nearly enough, particularly as Jones was again in tremendous form for Australia, hitting his fifth one-day century of 94 balls. Among his five sixes were two off Hadlee, and he also had seven fours in his dazzling display.
