A target of 194 always seemed out of reach for New Zealand, especially since Oram was missing with a pulled hamstring. Taylor offered a winning entry for the biggest six of the series, lifting Broad over midwicket into the top tier of the grandstand, but that was the highest point for him and his team; Broad dismissed Taylor next ball, and New Zealand spluttered to a 2-0 series loss.
