West Indies' emphatic victory was not simply a consolation at the end of a series lost after three matches: it was an omen of what was to follow in the First Test a week later. With the exception of the consistent Mohammad Hafeez, who made 55 from 83 balls, Pakistan's batsmen struggled to cope with the pitch's slow, low bounce. As they would be in the Test, Rampaul and Sammy were the tormentors, taking seven wickets between them. Leg-spinner Martin, who opened the bowling, applied the pressure of dot-balls, and Dwayne Bravo completed the demolition. Simmons and Edwards hustled to the target from 23.3 overs, Simmons ending a prolific series on his return to the team after just over a year with his fourth successive half-century. His 77 off 73 balls included three sixes and seven fours.
