†PAKISTAN v AUSTRALIA 1988-89

At Lahore, October 14

15-Apr-1990
At Lahore, October 14. Pakistan won, having lost fewer wickets with the scores tied. Toss: Pakistan. The match was initially planned for October 13 (the reason for there being no rest day in the Third Test) but was subsequently played a day later. Batting first on the same pitch used for the Test match, Boon (41 balls) and Marsh (135 balls) continued their good form, putting 50 on the board in the eleventh over. Australia's hundred came up in 108 minutes and later Siddons kept the momentum going with 32 off 37 deliveries. With Pakistan requiring just over 5 runs an over, Mudassar and Salim Malik (43 balls) added 88 in 93 balls for the second wicket, and Ijaz Ahmed chipped in with 39 from 36 balls. A single by Yousuf off the first ball of the last over levelled the scores, but Dodemaide contained Wasim Akram with his next three deliveries and had him caught by Border at silly mid-off with his fifth. The final ball struck Qadir on the pad, but he survived the lbw appeal to the joy of the 20,000 spectators.
Man of the Match: Mudassar Nazar.
