†PAKISTAN v ENGLAND 1983-84

At Karachi, March 26

15-Apr-1985
At Karachi, March 26. England won by six wickets. Pakistan, put in, made poor use of a good start by Mohsin and Saadat. When Mohsin, after an earlier chance to Fowler, was stumped in the 21st over, Pakistan were on course for a score above 200. But with Saadat tied down by Marks and Cook, and only Wasim of the other batsmen reaching double figures, they were confined to 77 off the final eighteen overs. Gower exploited Saadat's difficulty against slow bowling by using Smith for three overs from the 34th, when the orthodox move was to bring back Cowans. In reply England lost four wickets for 119. But Gower, with 31 in eleven overs, had kept them abreast of the required rate, and Gatting and Randall had something in reserve as they hit off the final 45.
