Pakistan v South Africa 2000

At R

15-Apr-2001
At R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, July 8 (day/night). South Africa won by 18 runs. Toss: South Africa.
Choosing to bat first, South Africa rode on Kallis's splendid 83 off 111 balls to total 241 for six. Pakistan began their reply boldly, with an opening stand of 101 in 20 overs between Saeed Anwar and Imran Nazir, whose 80 off 86 balls contained ten fours. But Klusener's first spell, which brought him three wickets in consecutive overs, put paid to Pakistan's hopes, and helped Boucher to 100 dismissals in only 65 internationals. Left-arm spinner Boje then destroyed their later batting with career-best one-day international figures of four for 25. Waqar Younis received a one-match suspension and a 50 per cent match-fee fine, and Azhar Mahmood a 30 per cent fine, from referee John Reid for tampering with the ball; their captain, Moin Khan, was reprimanded.
Man of the Match: J. H. Kallis.
