Pakistan v West Indies

Toss: West Indies.

15-Apr-1994
Toss: West Indies.
Pakistan fell apart against Simmons's medium-pace swing, which earned him four wickets for three runs in ten overs, the most economical figures ever recorded from a full stint in a one-day international, bettering B. S. Bedi's 12-8-6-1 for India against East Africa in the 1975 World Cup. Only a relaxed West Indian approach towards the end and a ninth-wicket partnership of 24 between Waqar Younis and Mushtaq Ahmed carried Pakistan past their previous lowest total in one-day internationals, 74 against England in the World Cup a year earlier. West Indies' total was built around Haynes, who was eighth out four short of his 17th one-day international century. He faced 152 balls and hit six fours, but needed a runner after a knee injury when he was 71.
Man of the Match: P. V. Simmons.

Attendance: 12,635.
