Half-centuries from Syed Sahabuddin and Shankara Rao rescued Andhra after the top order collapsed on the first day against Jammu and Kashmir in Anantapur. Fast bowlers Sameer Ali, who finished with career-best figures, and Abid Nabi cut through Andhra after they were sent in, reducing them to 129 for 6 after the openers had added 50. Sahabuddin and Shankara Rao stabilised the innings by adding 110 for the seventh wicket but their hard work was partly undone when both batsmen fell in the space of three runs. Duvvarapu Shivkumar and Atchuti Rao steered Andhra to 287 for 8 by stumps.

The 20-year-old left-arm spinner's career-best haul - 6 for 77 - helped Jharkhand skittle Rajasthan for only 246. Rajasthan made a fast start with the openers racing to 45 by the ninth over but then lost two wickets to Nadeem in quick succession. Nadeem then struck another vital blow by dismissing opener Pranay Sharma, who had scored 64 off 86 balls. Arijit Gupta was firm in the middle order, scoring 77 off 151 balls, before he was dismissed by Sunny Gupta. Nadeem then took three lower-order wickets to polish off the Rajasthan innings.
