Hampshire make just one change to the side that lost heavily to Durham at the Riverside in the Frizzell County Championship Division Two match when they take on Somerset at Taunton on Tuesday (26 August).
Chris Tremlett, who was left out in the north-east under the rotation scheme, replaces Chaminda Vaas.
Under an agreement between Hampshire and the Sri Lankan Cricket Board, Vaas is to miss two Championship games before the end of the season - this match being the first.
Hampshire, who have lost their last three Championship games, their last two by an innings, will be hoping to return to some sort of form against another struggling side in Somerset. Although they have no say in the promotion stakes, some pride is at stake if they are to avoid the wooden spoon.
Team: James Adams, John Crawley (capt), Simon Katich, Robin Smith, John Francis, Nic Pothas (w-k), Dimitri Mascarenhas, Shaun Udal, Chris Tremlett, Alan Mullally, James Tomlinson.
