West Indies v India
At Bridgetown, May 29
15-Apr-2003
At Bridgetown, May 29. India won by seven wickets (D/L method). Toss: India.
After 12 defeats and five draws at Bridgetown, from eight Tests, seven other first-class games
and two one-day internationals, India's historic first victory at Kensington Oval was comprehensive.
Yohannan set West Indies back by dismissing both openers in a testing spell, his first in limited-overs
internationals, and Lara lasted only ten balls. After a short rain-break cost one over, Sarwan
and Hooper rallied, with 87, but the last seven wickets crashed for 46; Agarkar finished them off
with three yorkers in ten balls, leaving Hooper stranded on a run-a-ball 76. India were never
pressed pursuing a modest target. The left-handed Mongia saw them most of the way, with an
accomplished 74, off 104 balls, in his second innings of the tour.
Man of the Match: D. Mongia.
