At Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, June 6, 2011. India won by four wickets. Toss: West Indies.
A slow pitch restricted strokeplay as West Indies managed only 16 boundaries (three of them sixes) in their 50 overs. Four Indian bowlers cost under four an over, and the West Indian struggle was epitomised by the stand of 82 between Sarwan and Samuels, which occupied nearly 20 overs; the last ten of the innings produced only 58 runs. Leg-spinners Martin - handed the new ball - and Bishoo responded in kind, but a lack of support from the seamers meant West Indies were unable to cash in after reducing India to 61 for three. Sharma, who faced 75 balls, guided them to victory with 31 balls to spare, adding 43 with Dhawan, then a decisive 80 with Raina.
Man of the Match: R. G. Sharma.
