Pakistan chose to bat first this time on the same wicket that was used for the previous game and recorded their highest total against West Indies. But their bowling let them down. Moin-ul-Atiq and Ramiz Raja put on Pakistan's first three-figure opening stand against West Indies in one-day games before Ramiz (72 balls, one six, ten fours) was caught in the seventeenth over. Imran, having sportingly allowed the substitute, Williams, to keep wicket when Dujon was injured, ironically was caught by him. The last five overs brought 56 runs as Miandad hit three sixes over square leg off Patterson in his 59 from 49 balls. Patterson's last three overs cost 39 runs. Moin, on his début, made a fine 46 from 56 balls. Greenidge (51 balls, three sixes, seven fours) and Simmons spurred West Indies into the chase, putting on 112 for the first wicket by the fourteenth over. One of Greenidge's two sixes off Imran landed in the third tier of the Constantine stand at long-on. The last eight overs brought 65 runs as Richardson (87 balls) and Best raced to the target. The match contained eleven sixes and 42 fours.
