West Indies v Bangladesh, 2014-15

Wisden's review of the first ODI, West Indies v Bangladesh, 2014-15

15-Apr-2015
At St George's, Grenada, August 20, 2014. First one-day international: West Indies won by three wickets. Bangladesh 217-9 (50 overs) (Anamul Haque 109; D. J. Bravo 4-32); ‡West Indies 219-7 (39.4 overs) (D. Ramdin 74, K. A. Pollard 89; Al-Amin Hossain 4-51). MoM: K. A. Pollard.
The confusion surrounding head coach Ottis Gibson's last-minute departure was reflected in the chaotic start to West Indies' chase. Three wickets fell in successive overs on the way to 34-5, but a partnership of 145 between Denesh Ramdin and Kieron Pollard steadied the ship. Another 39 were required when Ramdin was bowled by Sohag Gazi, and 17 when Pollard, going for his seventh six, fell to Mahmudullah's tumbling catch at long-on. But Jason Holder carried the baton across the line with more than ten overs to spare. In spite of Anamul Haque's third one-day international hundred, which ended off the last ball of the innings, Bangladesh could manage only a modest total as wickets tumbled around him. Imrul Kayes's fall was literal, run out after he and Anamul crashed into each other mid-pitch.
