At Dubai, February 25, 2012 (floodlit). England won by 38 runs. Toss: England.
Bairstow put his tentative innings two days earlier behind him to thrash an unbeaten 60 from 46
balls and set up England's series-squaring victory. His change in approach was highlighted when he
hit Umar Gul's slower ball for a towering six over long-on from the penultimate delivery of the
innings. It was his first half-century in any game of Twenty20 cricket and, with none of his teammates
passing 31, pivotal to England's total of 150. Pakistan's pursuit looked doomed almost from
the outset: two wickets fell in the first eight balls of their reply and, despite some late hitting from
Shahid Afridi and Hammad Azam, they never recovered.
Man of the Match: J. M. Bairstow.
