N Srinivasan and his daughter Rupa Gurunath are set to be appointed directors of Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited (CSKCL), the company that owns the CSK franchise in the IPL.
While the CSKCL board has approved the appointments, it will be ratified at the annual general meeting on September 27. Srinivasan, 80, has effectively been retired for several years and only made rare public appearances, with Gurunath taking charge of the business. This is the first time he has been named on the CSKCL board of directors. While he will be its chairman, Gurunath will be the full-time director. Kasi Viswanathan is also on the board as the managing director and chief executive officer.
The other directors on the board include former BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel, R Srinivasan, Rakesh Singh, PL Subramanian, V Manickam and E Jayashree.
"See, it's a great boon for CSK," Viswanathan told PTI. "He's been the best administrator for us and I'm very happy that he's come back into CSK. He'll be in an advisory role only because he doesn't travel much, but we'll be in contact with him."
CSK finished at the bottom of the table - in tenth place - for the first time ever in IPL 2025, winning only four of their 14 games. They were initially led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, who then was injured after five games and handed over the captaincy to MS Dhoni.
