7.05pm Gnasher: "Alyssa Healy is being driven around the ground on the groundstaffs' buggy". Her husband said she was not excited about the lap of honour.

7pm Moises Henriques becomes the first player to play 150 games in the BBL. He's nine ahead of the next best which is Sixers teammate Jordan Silk.

6.55pm Starc on Fox: "I feel like I've got enough in the tank after the Ashes to push through and try and help Sixers play finals. I've been in worse positions physically at the end of a five-Test series. I've got nothing on after the BBL."

David Warner on Fox: "I'm not facing the first ball from Mitchell Starc. No way."

6.45pm Josh: "'Tonight isn't essential for Sixers to make finals as they do need to beat Heat on Sunday to guarantee it. But they could jump as high as second if they win their last two. Tonight is the first step towards that.'Its still mathematically possible to finish in first if the scorchers and stars have a no result, and sixers win both by a large amount to push their net run rate!" That would require a freak weather event in Perth, Josh, which is not currently forecast but appreciate your optimism.

DG: "If the game is a washout, does that limit how high the Sixers can finish? And is weather looking as ominous as the forecast?" Weather is OK at the moment. Gnasher reports: "Might need a bit of luck to get through without some rain/a storm."

6.30pm Sixers have won the toss and will bowl.

Sydney Sixers: Babar Azam, Steve Smith, Josh Philippe (wk), Moises Henriques (capt), Sam Curran, Lachlan Shaw, Jack Edwards, Joel Davies, Ben Manenti, Sean Abbott, Mitchell Starc

Sydney Thunder: David Warner, Sam Konstas, Matthew Gilkes, Sam Billings (wk), Nic Maddinson, Aidan O'Connor, Daniel Sams, Chris Green, Tanveer Sangha, Ryan Hadley, Wes Agar

Sixers have brought in Starc at the expense of Ben Dwarshuis and are instead playing two spinners.

Thunder have made a number of changes. David Warner returns, Tasmania allrounder Aidan O'Connor is making his T20 debut at No.6. Tanveer Sangha is also back. Cameron Bancroft is out with a fractured thumb. David Willey and Tom Andrews have been squeezed out of Thunder's final XI of the season.

6.25pm Hello and welcome to the SCG for the Sydney Smash between Sixers and Thunder. Huge night coming up with Mitchell Starc returning to the BBL for the first time in 10 years. Steven Smith is also playing for the star-studded Sixers. Alex Malcolm in commentary tonight. Andrew McGlashan is at the SCG for us.

Tonight isn't essential for Sixers to make finals as they do need to beat Heat on Sunday to guarantee it. But they could jump as high as second if they win their last two. Tonight is the first step towards that.
