Peshawar Zalmi 147 for 4 (Sadaqat 55, Babar 53*, Dwarshuis 1-23) beat Islamabad United 143 for 9 (Farhan 36, Dwarshuis 33*, Mohammad Ali 3-26) by six wickets
Peshawar Zalmi put together one of the best bowling performances of PSL 2025 to restrict the usually free-flowing Islamabad United to 143 before cantering to a six-wicket victory. Mohammad Ali's 3 for 26 was the pick, but each of the four frontline bowlers conceded only between 26 and 29 in their allotted overs and picked up wickets to set up a straightforward chase.
Zalmi wobbled at the start of the chase, though, losing three quick wickets, before a 102-run stand between Maaz Sadaqat and Babar Azam, both of whom scored half-centuries, saw Zalmi canter to a win that kept their playoffs hopes alive and well.

Gill, Buttler and Sai Sudharsan leave SRH on the brink of elimination

Each of SRH's remaining games is a must-win affair, but still no guarantee to take them to playoffs

Gujarat Titans 224 for 6 (Gill 76, Buttler 64, Sai Sudharsan 48, Unadkat 3-35) beat Sunrisers Hyderabad 186 for 6 (Abhishek 74, Prasidh 2-19, Siraj 2-33) by 38 runs
Another Gujarat Titans (GT) match, and we are again left wondering how they will go if their top three fall early with Rashid Khan at No. 7. Once again, Shubman Gill, Jos Buttler and B Sai Sudharsan dominated a bowling attack, albeit the listless Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) one, to post 224 on a black-soil pitch that was slow to begin with. All three of them are now among the top four run-getters in IPL 2025, with Sai Sudharsan reclaiming the Orange Cap with his 48 off 23 balls.
GT failed to defend 209 in the last game, which did raise questions, but that was a par score. Here, SRH's ordinary start with the ball - arguably the worst all year - set GT the platform for a clearly above-par total. In the run chase, the GT bowlers then bashed the hard lengths to stifle the SRH batters despite a 74 for Abhishek Sharma. Prasidh Krishna bowled four overs for just 19 runs and two wickets to bring the Purple Cap to GT as well.

Marcus Harris dominates for Lancashire with unbeaten 165

Australian opener extends strong run of form as Bohannon, Hurst provide support

Lancashire 342 for 5 (Harris 165*, Hurst 78, Bohannon 56) vs Gloucestershire
Marcus Harris made his second century of the season to help Lancashire dominate the opening day of their Rothesay County Championship match against Gloucestershire.
The former Australia opener also became the first batter to pass fifty five times in his first seven innings in first-class cricket for the county and finished on 165 not out with Lancashire on 342 for five after opting to bat first on what now appears an easy-paced pitch.

Leach, Pretorius give Somerset upper hand on green deck

England spinner sparks Essex collapse before Noah Thain digs in

Somerset 9 for 1 trail Essex 206 (Pretorius 3-24, Leach 3-35) by 197 runs
Jack Leach took centre stage in a dramatic Essex batting collapse on the opening day of the Rothesay County Championship Division One match with Somerset at the Cooper Associates Ground, Taunton.
The visitors looked to be coping well with a green pitch when progressing to 115 for 2 early in the afternoon session, having lost what looked likely to prove an important toss. But England left-arm spinner Leach found plenty of turn from the River End and claimed three wickets in quick succession to help reduce Essex to 155 for 7 at tea.

Sri Lanka 237 for 5 (Samarawickrama 77, Dilhari 61, Perera 42, Mlaba 2-44) beat South Africa (Dercksen 61*, Goodall 46, Madara 4-50, Vihanga 3-41) by five wickets
Sri Lanka completed their fourth highest run chase in women's ODIs and subjected South Africa to a second successive defeat in the tri-series in Colombo. A record fourth-wicket stand of 128 between Kavisha Dilhari and Harshitha Samarawickrama, both of whom scored half-centuries, ensured Sri Lanka controlled proceedings against a South African side that struggled with the slowness of the pitch and problems with personnel.
Seventeen-year-old wicket-keeper Karabo Meso had to leave the field after 14 overs of the Sri Lankan innings with a heat-related illness and was replaced by Sinalo Jafta while Sune Luus, who bowled eight overs and took 1 for 34, jammed her knee into the turf and suffered bruising, forcing her off the field. Ultimately neither of those things hampered South Africa as much as their inability to take wickets on a surface that Sri Lanka's attack mastered. Debutant offspinner Dewmi Vihanga became the second Sri Lankan to take three wickets on ODI debut while Malki Madara, playing in just her second game, picked up 4 for 50.
