The MCG's original Bay 13 - famous for excessive drinking and giving opposition outfielders a hard time - hasn't been around for quite a while now, but if you remember the spirit of that section of the ground, you might be a bit surprised with what you find if you go for this year's Boxing Day Test. The seats have been taken out and instead there's space to mingle, like you would at an outdoor birthday party, with a bar (but no pool, like the Gabba has). Corporatisation spares no one.

You know all about Virat Kohli's ascetic - and lately vegetarian - diet already, but does he ever indulge in the occasional cheat day?
Well, no. He doesn't. But much like Steven Smith, he'll reward himself after he's played a long, gruelling innings. Smith treats himself to a bar of chocolate after scoring a hundred; the Kohli equivalent is a big, carb-heavy meal. But not too carb-heavy - when he made 235 against England in Mumbai three years ago, for instance, he ate a chicken burger, but only one half of the bun it came in.

Romanian cricketer Pavel Florin has become something of an internet darling since footage of him bowling in the European Cricket League emerged in July. His bowling was ridiculed by many on social media but others delighted in seeing a player from cricket's backwaters trying so earnestly. And now Florin is quickly moving into the big leagues. First, he received an invitation from a Melbourne club to come and play in an exhibition game for them. And now he's bowling at Brian Lara!
