A middle-order batter who also bowled medium pace, Carl Tuckett dismissed Alec Stewart and Graeme Hick on ODI debut in Port of Spain in April 1998. But as it happened, that remained his only appearance for West Indies.

Tuckett had been more impressive with the ball than with the bat for Leeward Islands in the lead-up to his West Indies debut. He was even a part of the Leeward side which won the Red Stripe Bowl, the List A tournament, in 1997, and even contributed to the side's victory in the three knockout games.

But it was in his first-class career that Tuckett finished with better numbers with both bat and ball. He played his final competitive game in February 2004, before he took to umpiring.

While Tuckett primarily stood in domestic matches - including the CPL - his first international game as an umpire came during a women's T20I between West Indies and Sri Lanka in Coolidge in October 2017. But his first ODI as an official arrived only five years later, when West Indies Women were playing New Zealand Women in North Sound in September 2022.
