Playing Role

Allrounder

Fast-bowling allrounder Hussain Talat, born in Lahore, emerged from Pakistan's junior structures as a promising white-ball prospect in the mid-2010s.

Most effective as a batter in the middle overs, he is strong off the back foot and generates useful bounce with the ball. Born in Lahore, he came to prominence in the 2018 PSL, where his clean ball-striking, mostly from No. 5, yielded a handful of significant unbeaten scores in Islamabad United's run to the title. He earned a senior debut a couple of months later, in the home T20I series against West Indies, where he delivered three sizeable scores batting at one down in Pakistan's 3-0 win. But over the next ten months, 11 T20Is and his maiden ODI, Talat didn't quite replicate the success of his debut series and drifted out of Pakistan's plans.

In first-class cricket, he took 5 for 62 in a rout of Habib Bank in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy in 2017. He made his first century extra large, finishing with 253 in a crushing win for Southern Punjab in 2020. Two games on, he made 131 against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa - this time in a loss.

In the PSL, Talat was a fixture in United's side through to 2021, before he moved to Peshawar Zalmi, and then to Lahore Qalandars for a year in 2023, when they won the title. A solid run in domestic List A games starting with the Pakistan Cup late in 2023 earned him a Pakistan white-ball recall in 2025. He made 41 in an ODI that Pakistan won in the West Indies, batting at No. 7 this time, and took two wickets and scored an unbeaten 32 in a win over Sri Lanka in the T20I Asia Cup.
