Jimmy Cameron's career makes for interesting reading. He played two first-class matches for Jamaica, his home island, against Trinidad in July 1946 and was on the tour of the Indian subcontinent - India, Pakistan and Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) - in 1948-49. There is nothing after February 1949 till August 1954, when he made played four matches for Canada on their tour of England. It is understood Cameron had moved to Canada for his studies around that period, where there's a gap in his cricket career. After 1954, there's another gap till October 1959, when he played for Jamaica again against Trinidad, his last first-class match.

Coming from a family with cricket roots - his father John played first-class cricket for Jamaica, and his brother John Hemsley played two Tests for West Indies and also turned out for Jamaica and Somerset in a first-class career that ran for 105 matches - Jimmy was a lower-middle order batter and offspinner. All his five Tests came on that subcontinent tour in 1948-49, but he didn't have a lot to show for it. He scored 151 runs with a best of 75 not out at Brabourne Stadium in the second Test, and picked up three wickets with a best of 2 for 74 in the first Test in Delhi.
