Nigel Jones left New Zealand for Ireland, playing his first club game for Civil Service North in 2007 before cracking into the senior Ireland side before the ICC World Twenty20 in 2009. An allrounder, he bats in the top four for his club but rarely plays higher than No. 7 for Ireland. His senior debut came in Ireland's warm-up against a New Zealand side containing several of his old friends, but it was a low-key affair for him as he didn't get a chance to bat and bowled three economical but wicketless overs. Jones bowls medium pace off a short run-up, his energetic action giving the appearance of bowling off the wrong foot. He is nippier than his slow, ambling approach to the crease would suggest and often surprises batsmen by getting the ball to rush on to the bat.
