Asif asks board's help to resurrect career

Mohammad Asif has asked the PCB to help him resume his international career, after he was banned earlier this year for testing positive for the banned substance nandrolone following the IPL.

"Asif has written a letter to the [PCB] chairman and wants the cricket board to cooperate with him so that he could start playing international cricket," Salim Altaf, the PCB's new chief operating officer, said. "We will see what legal support we could give him in clearing his name. At the moment his suspension stays."

Asif has appealed to the IPL's drugs tribunal but the hearing was adjourned last month. Shahid Karim, Asif's lawyer, said a new date hasn't been set.

Both Asif's A and B samples tested positive for nandrolone, but with different levels of the drug on each occasion.

He last played for Pakistan against Zimbabwe in April before his stint with the Delhi Daredevils in the IPL.
