Wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis was born in Leeds but relocated to Australia as a 14-year-old, where he developed into a hugely versatile batter, moved into the national reckoning after finding his feet for both Western Australia and Perth Scorchers. In early 2025, he joined the group of players to have centuries across all three international formats, including one on Test debut.

Inglis enjoyed a breakthrough Sheffield Shield season in 2020-21 with 585 runs, including his first three first-class hundreds, having previously churned out runs at grade level without quite making the step up. That came on the heels of consecutive 400-plus run seasons for Perth Scorchers in the BBL, where his adaptability at moving from the top order to the middle was noted by selectors. He also continued to churn out runs in county cricket for Leicestershire, and was named in Australia's 2021 T20 World Cup squad, though he didn't play a game.

He made his his international debut the following year, in both white-ball formats, against Sri Lanka. And though he played a number of his early matches as a batter, he became Australia's first-choice ODI wicketkeeper one match into the 2023 World Cup when the selectors dropped Alex Carey. After the World Cup, in a T20 series against India, Inglis scored a remarkable 110 off 50 balls in Visakhapatnam, albeit in a losing cause.

With the selectors sticking with Matthew Wade for the 2024 T20 World Cup, Inglis continued to have to bide his time but after Wade's retirement he quickly slotted in as the first-choice option. He completed his all-format century set with a maiden ODI hundred against England at the 2025 Champions Trophy, his 120 not out coming off just 86 balls.
