46.6 to DB Sharma, a wicket to finish the innings, and India end up with 269 on opening day! Seems like another off-pace delivery, cramping Deepti for room on a length just outside leg. Deepti swings at it because, well, she has to. Gets under it a little too much and Sugandika runs in off the deep mid wicket fence to do the rest!. 269/8
10 | 1 | 55 | 2 | 5.50 | 31 | 6 | 1 | 1 | 1 | |
3.2 to S Mandhana, Mandana falls early! It's a bobble by deep point, but she holds on in the end to send back the dangerous Indian opener. This was fuller outside off as Smriti's eyes light up for the drive, but there's some late away swing that sees this full blooded swing catch the toe end of the bat. It's skied high over cover as deep point races in and holds on -barely - at the second time of asking. 14/1 43.3 to AB Kaur, caught brilliantly on the fence! Gunaratne with her third catch of the evening! A bit of redemption for Gunaratne as well. This is speared in on a length on middle and leg. Amanjot steps into the shot and hoicks it towards deep mid wicket. Gunaratne scurries to her right, goes full-stretch to her right and makes the ball stick right in the centre of her palms. A wonderful effort, and that brings an end to a gritty Amanjot Kaur knock!. 227/7

19.2 to Pratika Rawal, Rawal finds deep midwicket! And it's another one held on to at second chance! Vishmi Gunaratne again the fielder, as Rawal skips down and looks to whip this high over cow corner. Ends up dragging it a little squarer than intended and that brings Vishmi into play, as she has to peddle back to hold on this. It pops out before she leaps forward and holds on to the rebound. 81/2 25.1 to H Deol, that is a soft, soft dismissal, and Deol has to go! Looped up outside off and Deol is done in by the flight. She looks to push it down the ground to long off but does not get to the pitch of the ball. A bit of extra bounce too and the ball pops up off the higher part of the bat. Easiest of catches for Dilhari at extra cover, and Deol has to depart just two short of a half-century!. 120/3 25.2 to JI Rodrigues, cleaned up first ball with an absolute corker, and Ranaweera, all of 39 years old, is having a ball out there in Guwahati! This is floated up beautifully on a length on middle and off. Drifts in before gripping in the surface and ripping away. Rodrigues lunges at it but like Deol, does not get to the pitch of the ball. It spins enough and thunders into off stump, with Rodrigues completely flummoxed. Ranaweera on a hat-trick!. 120/4 25.5 to H Kaur, nicked and gone too! What is happening out there?! Ranaweera has three in the over, she has four in the innings, and India in a huge spot of bother! This is much shorter outside off but seems to hold in the surface slightly. Harmanpreet probably has too much time to think about it and looks to dab it fine. Almost off the face of the bat and Sanjeewani snaffles up a sharp chance to her right, despite there being a big deflection. India, from a position of comfort, are now in trouble!. 121/5
3 | 0 | 24 | 1 | 8.00 | 9 | 4 | 0 | 1 | 0 | |
26.6 to RM Ghosh, another very soft dismissal, and India are falling apart! Athapaththu throws this out wide, and bowls it shorter too. Ghosh, feeling the need to break free from Sri Lanka's shackles, throws her hands at it. To be fair to her, this is there to be hit, but Ghosh neither gets under it nor does she keep it down. Slaps it straight to Prabodhani at cover point, and this goes from bad to worse for India!. 124/6 |

6.4 to GWHM Perera, Castled! Perera had been itching to get one away, and here she tries to get down on one knee and whack this away across the line, in front of square leg. The ball though doesn't quite sit up for her and she ends up missing a straight one in the end. Off stump is rattled and Gaud has a maiden world cup scalp!. 30/1
6 | 0 | 37 | 1 | 6.16 | 20 | 6 | 0 | 2 | 0 | |
23.6 to RMVD Gunaratne, Finger goes up once more as Vishmi is trapped lbw! This was a full and straight, and struck the front pad as Vishmi missed the drive. She reviews. But it's futile, as there's no bat involved and it's three reds. 105/4
10 | 0 | 32 | 2 | 3.20 | 35 | 1 | 0 | 3 | 0 | |
34.4 to NND Silva, paddled onto the stumps, and Rana is on the board too! Darted in on a back of a length on middle and off. Nilakshika walks across, trying to lap this fine. Gets into a decent position but the ball just comes onto her a little bit quicker than expects. Flicks the glove before crashing into the stumps, and that might probably be that for Sri Lanka's chase!. 173/7 36.4 to BMSM Kumari, smashes the stumps, and Rana does it all on her own again! Like in her previous over, Rana takes the fielders out of the equation. Hangs this up on a length on middle and off. Sugandika has a wild hack across the line and misses. Rana has her arms outstretched in celebration, and India sensing an opening day win here!. 184/8
10 | 1 | 54 | 3 | 5.40 | 37 | 6 | 2 | 2 | 0 | |
14.6 to AMCJK Athapaththu, Deepti gets Athapaththu! They've had a concerted plan against Athapaththu and it finally pays off. They've come around the wicket, and bowled full, flat and quick. Athapaththu has struggled to get these away, and this one she plays all around looking to whip it onside. Misses it completely as the stumps are rattled. India have the big fish!. 82/2 26.2 to WK Dilhari, what a grab that is, and Ghosh makes amends almost instantly! Oh wait - the umpire has not given this out, and India take it upstairs! Back of a length on middle stump. Spins back into Dilhari and she tries to glance it fine. The ball seems to come off the face of the bat and Ghosh does superbly to first anticipate it and then keep moving sharply to her left to snaffle it up, albeit via a parry off the pad. UltraEdge confirms the clear involvement of bat, and India have their fifth!. 130/5 28.6 to MAA Sanjeewani, straight to short mid wicket, and Deepti has three! Floated up nicely outside off and Sanjeewani thinks this is there for the taking. She looks to clip it away but fails to keep her shot down. Chips it to Harmanpreet, who gobbles up a smart chance in front of her face. Deepti is delighted, as are the rest of the Indian side, but Sanjeewani cannot quite believe what she has done!. 140/6
8 | 0 | 37 | 2 | 4.62 | 25 | 2 | 1 | 0 | 0 | |
22.3 to H Samarawickrama, Charani breaks the stand! Looks for the pull and misses. It strikes her on the back pad as the finger goes up. Sri Lanka review. This looked good on first look, and the umpire had a long think before raising the finger. This was spun back from outside off, and the impact is umpire's call. No doubt on the wickets hitting. Sri Lanka lose the set Samarawickrama.. 103/3 42.3 to WGAKK Kulasuriya, holes out to long on, and Charani has two on her World Cup debut! Thrown up full outside off and Kulasuriya cannot resist the temptation to have a pop at it. Always reaching out for it, though, and she chips it rather tamely towards Mandhana. Easy catch for India's opening batter, and Charani is chuffed!. 199/9
2.4 | 0 | 6 | 1 | 2.25 | 11 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 1 | |
45.4 to I Ranaweera, big lbw shout, and the finger goes up! But hang on, this may not be the end of the game because Ranaweera has reviewed! Pushed in on a length on middle and off. Ranaweera seems to play all over it and gets pinned on the front pad. Seemed pretty adjacent but Ranaweera has reviewed because, well, why not. No bat involved. Three reds on Ball Tracking, and this is all over, Red Rover! India begin their Women's World Cup campaign with a commanding win, and despite being under all sorts of bother at one stage, they have done this with room to spare!. 211/10 |
