full ball, Collingwood comes down the track and taps the ball into the covers, an easy single gives England the win!
Bangladesh vs England, 1st ODI at Dhaka, Feb 28 2010 - Ball by Ball Commentary
For any football fans out there, the Carling Cup final between Aston Villa and Man Utd. has just kicked off and you can follow the action live on our sister site, Soccernet.com
And on that note, it's goodbye from Andrew McGlashan, Sahil Dutta and me, Liam Brickhill. Join us again in two days' time for the second ODI between England and Bangladesh at Mirpur.
So, England go one-nil up in the one-day series with a six-wicket win. Good, professional performance from England with Cook and Collingwood's half-centuries sealing the victory with plenty of time to spare. There was a little stutter before Collingwood and Morgan seized the initiative with an 88-run partnership. Bangladesh were let down by a few lapses in the field, particularly from Mushfiqur Rahim. And, of course, they will also be disappointed not to have been able to give any meaningful support to a fine knock from Tamim Iqbal.
Tamim is named Man of the Match for his hundred, but that will provide little succour to him after the nature of this defeat.
Scores level
another full toss, just a single down to long on though
just two needed...
full again, half-volley though, and shovelled down to long on
another good yorker, but no pace on it and easily dug out by Prior
yorker length ball dug out by Prior. Good ball, but all slightly pointless at this stage. Good practice for Mortaza after injury I suppose
full toss hammered down the ground, and a shocking misfield gives Prior a boundary. That really should have been stopped, fielders are obviously demoralised
And with only eight runs needed to win, the Powerplay has been taken - it had to be, as we've entered the last five overs.
tucked off his pads into space, another scampered single
no rush from Prior, dropping the ball on the leg side
gets his front foot down the pitch and forces the ball easily down to long on
no room given as Collingwood tries to work the ball away
flashes hard outside off stump, the bat twisting in his hands. Prior was going for the boundary but tried to hit it too hard
Prior hangs back in the crease and works the ball to the on side, but straight to mid on
Just 11 needed. This could be the last over, the batsmen are looking to attack
advancing again, a touch of away movement but Prior covers it easily, playing the ball off the face down to third man
Prior advances as well, meeting the ball on the half volley and hitting it back past Mortaza, but mid off runs round to cut the ball off
dances down the track and aims a heave over midwicket, but the ball takes the inside edge and trickles away as they steal a run
width given, but Collingwood's slashing cut goes straight to backward point. Good shot for no runs
back of a length on off stump, Collingwood calmly gets in line to drive off the back foot, but straight to the mid off fielder
short on leg stump, Prior tucks the ball off his hips down to the fielder on the fine leg fence
straighter ball, Prior gets inside the ball again, working it away to leg with ease
good reply, and Prior defends off the back foot
