MacLeod's bizarre 99 guides Scotland home

It was a relief for Scotland and Canada finally to get a cricket match, after their 4-day Inter Continental Cup match at Uddingston last week was completely washed out, and the two one-day internationals suffered a switch of venue.

Scorecard summary

Scotland177/6(42.1 overs)

Scotland take a step closer to World Cup Qualification today after winning by 4 wickets, thanks to 99* from Calum MacLeod and a lucklasture batting performance from Canada. They overtake U.A.E. to the second qualifying spot in the table, and after some persistent rain managed to finally get some cricket played.

MacLeod was the anchor of the Scottish innings as his teammates came and went around him. The pace bowling of Soraine was expensive but yielded two key wickets. The Canadian spinners slowed the run-rate during the middle overs, but Scotland were able to keep to runs ticking over to well above what was required. It really was a solo performance as no other Scottish batsmen managed to get over 25.

Thanks for joining me Callum Stewart here today at Cambusdoon in Ayr for our live ball-by-ball commentary.
