pitched up again, pretty much medium pace now, dug out low to deep backward point - that's it, West Indies have won by 15 runs
West Indies vs England, 14th Match, Group 1 at Kandy, Sep 27 2012 - Match Result
11.25pm: That's us done for today [wipes sweat off brow]. George Dobell's full report will be in the slot shortly and myself and Gnasher will be back for more when England take on New Zealand on Saturday. The tournament is now motoring nicely, though I suspect it won't be an easy ride for anyone between now and Sunday week. Cheerio
11.20pm: Right, we're back out for the presentations...
England captain, Stuart Broad: "We had to regroup, obviously losing two wickets in that first over hurt us but we showed how good the wicket was. We were quite happy with our effort with the ball and I think we're disappointed not to win tonight. Eoin has been fantastic in this form of the game and he showed it again. The surface played pretty well, I think it was a batter's paradise. The bowlers kept them to a below par score so we're disappointed not to have chased that. We've got to stop losing early wickets because it's hurting us."
West Indies captain, Darren Sammy: "We backed ourselves to set a target and Chris and Charles got us going well. It's good to see the way Johnson Charles played, he stared off slow but he constructed an important innings. With Narine, Samuel, Chris, we decided to maximise out spinners against England and it worked out."
Johnson Charles is named as Man of the Match: "It feels very good, coming up here we want to win the tournament. It feels very good because it's my first one. On this pitch, if you bowl straight on a back of a length it is hard to score - Steve Finn is a tall man, hard to hit. It's just a matter of staying in the crease and scoring the runs."
11.15pm: So, West Indies record their first win of the tournament, though England will rue a slow start with both ball and bat that left them with too much to do. Samuels showed moxy after being hit for four off the first ball of the final over but in the end Eoin Morgan's box of fireworks wasn't quite big enough. Still, we were after a bit of tension from this tournament and today's games have provided it; let's hope the Super Eights continue to live up to their underpants-on-the-outside billing from here on in.
full, flat and on the stumps, clipped through backward square leg for a solitary, sorry one
Jos Buttler is in but England look fresh out of miracles
got him, that will settle it! Hales advanced, Samuels fired it it full and wide, the batsman dragged his bat down but missed, was a yard or two out and Ramdin applied the coup
angled across towards off stump, Morgan can't get underneath the ball and bunts a single into the off side
dot ball! Full and speared into the slot, hacked back to the bowler
full length outside off and crumped down the ground, Pollard hares round from long-off but can only tip the ball further on to the rope for four
Marlon Samuels(!) is going to bowl. Hold on to your your hat...
It's come to this. England need 23 runs to pull off an extraordinary comeback from 0 for 2. Or just 22 to set up a second Super Over for the day. Who said this World T20 was boring?
Rampaul holds his nerve, full and wide and Hales swishes airily, fails to connect and that's a precious dot
goes round the wicket now, full and wide of the stumps, dug out to mid-off and they scamper one, in fact there's a chance of an overthrow but Morgan had run on too far
*Gulp*
full and straight and in the slot - that's gone miles! Morgan cleared the front leg, swung his arms through a clean slog that sails way over deep midwicket
back of a length, maybe a slight change of pace and Morgan, who seemed to be expecting something else, swings across the line and misses
pitched up and angled across, Morgan takes a step out and opens another can of whupass on Rampaul, battering a straight hit over long-off
length ball, carved away over midwicket and it looks like it's screaming to the boundary but Darren Sammy tears after it to keep the damage to three
"Morgan may be playing for England but definitely has an Irish luck today!" chirps Priyank.
That over has almost certainly put a cork in it for England - 39 needed off 12 balls now
floated up on the stumps, Morgan swipes busily across the line but the ball merely gets trapped between his knee flap and thigh
carrom ball, spears this down the leg side - wide
reverses the grip and that's another top edge from Morgan ... and it lands safe, in the region backward point, the two fielders then colliding with each other as they rush to collect the ball!
punched back down the ground for one
floated up, Hales advances but can only drag the ball down on to the ground through midwicket, though they get back for a second
floated up on the stumps, paddled through midwicket by Morgan and that's a half-century that seems to have arrived by stealth
We're in Mike Hussey v Pakistan in the 2010 World Twenty20 semi-final territory. Do England have a Mike Hussey? West Indies have a Sunil Narine
pitched up on the stumps, punched down the ground
