there will be no Banglawash. Rayudu fires in a yorker, catches him on the back foot, and gets his wicket
Bangladesh vs India, 3rd ODI at Dhaka, Jun 24 2015 - Match Result
That ends the series. Joy for Bangladesh, consolation for India and a damning indictment of India's quicks, which - if I may add - is in direct contrast to the views of the Test captain, who wants pace and more pace. Interesting times ahead. This is Sidharth Monga signing off
"The way we have played the whole series, we have a lot of positives, and a lot of lessons from today," says Mashrafe Mortaza. "Mustafizur has been brilliant. It was fantastic to see him bowl under such pressure. We lost too many wickets at regular intervals today. Our batsmen got in and got out. We need to learn from these mistakes. South Africa coming next week. We need to be positive and fit."
"What was important was to put runs on the board, which we did," says MS Dhoni. "If we give our bowlers those extra 10-15 runs, the game is on. Partnerships were the key. At times on slow pitches, it looks like you are behind the target. We have resources in the last 10 overs to get a par-plus total. The ;last two years I have hardly batted at 4. If I have, I have only done so after the 30th-35th over. This was my chance to bat. That's why we have pushed Raina to 6 so that we have an experienced batsman at 6. This is something I can do only if Nos 6 and 7 keep on batting well. I won't be shy, I hadn't been moving well against spin but that had to do with the fact that there wasn't much batting behind me. This win is good, but we need to make a decision if we want quick bowlers or if we want good bowlers even if they are not quick. We have been backing too many quick bowlers who haven't been bowling well."
Mustafizur Rahman is named the Man of the Series
"We batted really well as a group," says Suresh Raina, Man of the Match. "MS and Shikhar had a good partnership. MS took the responsibility. And then we and Stuart had a good partnership. Dhawal started off the bowling well, and me and Ash followed up on it. We played really well today, that's the positive we will take from here. Bangladesh played really well, looking forward to coming back here."
An exhilarating series for Bangladesh comes to an end. India brought their experience to this match. Their batsmen did just about enough until Raina exploded in the end, and they came up against batting-friendly conditions. The dew came up, quickened the pitch and made it difficult for the ball to grip, but they kept the game alive until the batsmen made the mistakes. And they made a few too many. Bangladesh will learn from this game, but right now might be the time to celebrate getting their hands on the trophy. We will bring you the quotes from the presentation shortly
Bangladesh might finally have lost the match, but they have been the winners this series: this is their first series win over India, they carried their unbeaten streak at home to 10, and they have also qualified for the Champions Trophy. Good to see the crowds have stayed back even thought it was apparent for the last hour that their side is losing. The atmosphere, though, is much more sober than around the same time on the previous two match days
defended this time for a change
appeal for a catch at the wicket as he is beaten ion the sweep and the ball lobs off the pad into Dhoni's gloves. Raina makes a mock review gesture as he is given not-out. Don't think BCCI will like this
an almighty slog, he is beaten, but the off stump is beaten too
short of a length, at the stumps, defended back to him
flights this, middle and leg, looks to work to leg, and is beaten
full toss outside the leg stump, Sunny gets some bat on the sweep for a four. This is Sunny's personal best. Which takes both the batsmen at the wicket to their career best
slows it down, Mustafizur chips it towards mid-off for one
short of a length, straight, defended back to him
into the pads again, Mustafizur plays a pick-up shot even as he falls down, clearing short fine leg
fires this one in, beats the bat, hits the pad, going down leg
flat, into the pads, worked into the leg side for one
fired into the pads, goes for a leg-bye
pradeep: "Sunny is trying to imitate sunil gavaskar"
full, middle and leg, clipped to leg
chipped over Rayudu's head. Rayudu jumps, but can't get a touch
flat, shortish, pulled away to long leg
unlike Kohli he hits the free hit, top-edging it for a catch at midwicket
Free hit coming up
no ball. Defended back to him
long hop, pulled to short midwicket
Rayudu to bowl. Interesting action against interesting action. Rayudu is more interesting, though
lovely delivery. Really really slows it down, bowls ay 78ks, pitches middle and leg, and turns to beat the edge, and also the off stump
Ishan Jain: "Most likely Man of the Match bowling to most likely Man of the series"
