all over at Newlands! Full-pitched delivery outside off stump, Kumble goes down on one knee and drives, gets an inside edge onto off stump and Hall celebrates with a pumped fist, a spin on the heels, and a happy walk back to the dressing room
South Africa vs India, 3rd ODI at Cape Town, Nov 26 2006 - Ball by Ball Commentary
So, South Africa wrap this affair up by 106 runs and go 2-0 up with two to play. What a clinical win for them. They were in tatters after Zaheer Khan's good opening burst, but Justin Kemp played out of his skin to slam an unbeaten 100*, his maiden in ODIs, in a fantastic, unbeaten 138-run stand for the eighth wicket with Andrew Hall, who was simply amazing with his 56 not-out. In fact, he was the one who encouraged and inspired Kemp to switch from sedate, stoic caution to in-your-face belligerence. The Indian bowling was, to put it mildly, taken to the dhobi in the slog overs, and a total of 274 was just too much.
India's batting once again came a cropper, with only Rahul Dravid and MS Dhoni getting runs, contrasting in nature thought they were. Shaun Pollock picked up three at the top, and finished with a fine 4 for 26, while Hall backed his batting heroics with 3 for 45. Jacques Kallis picked up two, including Dhoni, and South Africa's fielding was outstanding. India have plenty of soul-searching to do.
Expectedly, Kemp receives the Man-of-the-Match award for his breathtaking innings.
