nails the yorker, and bang! Too quick for a No. 11 that one. The ball landed right in the yorker length on off, as Naveen tried to jam his bat down but was late, as the ball angled in a touch after pitching, and struck middle and off. Seales is off in celebration, as Kings win by a massive 102 runs
Jaffna vs Stars, 17th Match at Colombo, LPL, Dec 16 2021 - Ball by Ball Commentary
That's all from us from the first of the two LPL games this evening. But don't forget to hop on to the action between Dambulla Giants and Kandy Warriors soon, with the latter in a must-win position. Until then, it is goodbye from Thilak, Vairavan and me, Himanshu!
Thisara Perera, the winning captain: "Really good for the youngsters. If we can play good cricket, we can play well. Anything can happen in cricket. Hopefully we can give something special. I have top five bowlers, so I am not bowling."
Angelo Mathews, the Stars captain: "We were not firing, so we had to change the batting order. One game remains, and we have got to go out there and win. We shifted Kusal and Banton hoping they would fire."
Tom Kohler-Cadmore is the Player of the Match: "You would always like a hundred, but the man thing is for me to take the team over the line. It is about the two points we have got tonight. All our players have hit form at the right time."
Time for the presentations
6.16pm Stars were never really in the chase, and repeated strikes by the Kings' bowlers meant they were wrapped up for 91 inside 16 overs. Only three batters got into double figures for Stars, as all young bowlers - Seales, Viyaskanth and Theekshana - delivered with the ball for Kings. By the way, this is also the biggest win by runs in the LPL.
slower delivery, which beats the batter as well as the keeper. He digs it in short and outside off, as Naveen thinks of a poke but withdraws his bat, as the ball bounces just ahead of the keeper, who misses too. Four byes
goes for the swing, but misses. Full and outside off, and he tries to slog without any foot movement
pulled just short of fine leg, who dives forward, but the ball just evades his right hand. Short delivery on off, and Naveen pulled with a swivel almost with his eyes off the ball
Naveen is the last man. Seales stays over the wicket.
Time-out now
bowled him! The slower ball does the trick. It was a legcutter, and on a good length on off, as it skidded on off the pitch. Chameera went for the clip while playing across the line to that delivery, and ended up missing it perhaps because it was bowled with a change of pace or maybe even because it didn't really get up off the surface. But anyway, Seales gets his third as Stars lose their ninth
Seales returns from over the wicket
fuller, but on his pads. He taps that toward midwicket and sets off hurriedly for a single
shortish in length outside off, and nudged toward midwicket
bowls roundarm now. Good length ball outside off, and he is beaten on his cut
full on off, and much straighter. This doesn't turn, as it is defended back
this one turns away from him after pitching full and outside off. Chameera went for the sweep but missed
full and outside off. Blocked back with the full face of the bat
Hasaranga from over the wicket now
outside edge, and the ball flies over the man at slip! Rampaul looked to send this one into space too, as the ball was full and outside off. But he seemed to have had a go at that too early while heaving to the on side, as the ball went over the leaping slip fielder
cracked over the bowler's head! Rampaul can swing a few around after all. The ball is full outside off, and given some air too. But it is right in the slot, as he gets his front leg out of the way to hammer that back
Over the stumps to Rampaul, with one slip.
full delivery on middle, and nudged toward midwicket
looks to poke at that fullish ball outside off but is beaten
Two slips there
this keeps very low again. Shortish outside off, and slides away from the batter
Can Viyaskanth have five? Here comes Rampaul, although he will be off strike.
and now Banton perishes while trying to swing one out of the ground! Goes for the slog sweep to that tossed up ball which is full on middle and off, and looked to play against the turn. But he ended up skying it high to the man at deep backward square leg, as Viyaskanth has his third
shorter again on middle, and he swivels while trying to tap that to deep backward square leg
and bowls short first up. Pitches a touch wide of off, and so Chameera safely lets that go after a little sway out of the way
Chameera at No. 9. Seales stays over the wicket.
looks to ramp, but gets a tickle to the keeper! Seales digs it in short on middle, and gets it to move into the batter, who tries to ride the bounce while attempting to upper-cut that, but seemed to have gloved that to the keeper, who collected that a little high over his head. Stars crumbling here, as Seales gets his second
