Shortens his length, into his pads, blazed behind deep square and a misfield leaks a four. Karachi Kings have won by 23 runs.
Kings vs Zalmi, 27th Match at Rawalpindi, PSL, May 17 2025 - Ball by Ball Commentary
Peshawar Zalmi didn't have the services of Alzarri Joseph and lacked discipline with the ball, leaking a bit too many runs which cost them towards the end. David Warner and James Vince were on a roll and did the bulk of the damage. The middle-order didn't let the foundation go to waste as Khushdil Shah and Mohammad Nabi scored briskly and helped post a formidable total. The response from Peshawar Zalmi with the bat was decent; Saim Ayub raced to 47 and Babar Azam scored fluently for his 94 but more was required from the middle-order and they ended up playing catch-up as the asking rate kept shooting up. Hope you enjoyed the high-scoring affair. See you tomorrow for the double-header. It's goodbye and goodnight for now
Babar Azam, Peshawar Zalmi Captain: Think we leaked extra runs. They scored more than par. When we won't execute plans and bowl according to field then these things will happen. There is always room for improvement. Think Warner and Vince formed a great partnership but we have to learn from our mistakes quickly. We didn't have as many partnerships as they did. Bowlers have skills but they couldn't execute it well enough. No-balls and catch drops at end can be costly. We had the belief to chase the total but we needed partnerships. We were ahead at the end of 10th over but then they came back well and we were playing catch up towards the end. We have back to back matches, need to remember the positives and try our best tomorrow.
Karachi Kings and Islamabad United have qualified. Peshawar Zalmi aren't out of the competition just yet--they need to beat Lahore Qalandars to make it to the playoffs.
Hamza: "The game always looked like slipping away, but gutted Babar missed out on a shackles-breaking, drought-breaking, well deserved century."
Ghaffar: "Last 2 overs 52 runs cost PZ game but well fought, Congrats KK and IU for play offs "
Lands it short and leg-sidish, unable to execute the pull properly, loses its momentum on its way to keeper, as the duo sneaks a run
Steps away to the leg-side, clobbered away to deep midwicket boundary, was shorter and getting big on him, this boy can bat, solid temperament and looks like got all the shots in his armory, one for the future
Yorker dipping towards middle and leg, worked to midwicket, returns for the second, 200 on the board
Thumps it many a mile over long-on, more height than distance though. Goes big, it was in his zone at middle and he middled it
Around, shortish on middle and leg, gets inside the line and plays a controlled pull to deep backward square
Vicious short one strangling him down leg, tries to pull but looking a bit ungainly, ball flutters away to short fine
Back of the hand slower one angled into middle and off, gets right behind it and biffs it down the park away from long-on, four written all over it
Fraction short and zipping away in the corridor, beaten on the outside edge, mere formalities left
Thumps into the surface around the line off, lifted up and over Hasan's head, not quite under it, hits him high on the bat
That's lovely bit of improvisation! On a length around the line off, slower one, shuffles across and ramps it over keeper's head for a four, terrific
Around the wicket, fizzing in, shortish and seams away a touch, close to kissing the top of off
Around the wicket, pace-off bit short on off, deflected to midwicket and opens his account with a quick single
Rams a yorker on middle and he whips it away to deep midwicket, hustling and bustling for the second, Babar puts in a full-length dive and is short of his crease; that was a brilliant throw, strong arm. Great knock though, strike rate was good and we saw power-hitting as well, long-ranger effort, needed more support from his teammates. it was a one-handed pick-up from Jamal
A juicy fuller length ball outside off, that's bread and butter for him, creams his signature cover drive in the gap and earns a boundary, 7 away from a ton
Man in form comes out to bat so late, doesn't make sense to me. Around the wicket, shorter in length with plenty of width, slams a cut to deep point
Back of the hand slower one on a length dancing in the channel, throws the kitchen sink and slices it to the man at short third, will have to take the long walk back to the pavilion, superb tumbling catch from Vince.
Over the wicket, fuller in length, nips back a fraction at off, front-footed straight drive to long-off
Another pitch-perfect yorker on middle, digs it out back to Mir Hamza who gets hit on the right leg and looks in a lot of pain, cops a nasty blow right on the knee cap. They brought the stretcher out but he says he's fine and can walk
Pinpoint accurate yorker on middle and leg, shoveled back to Hamza
