The declaration came at 5.00pm leaving Leicestershire 23 overs to bat
through to the end of the day's play. Leicestershire trail by 202 runs.
Fairbrother was unbeaten on 100 and played a patient and determined innings.
It was almost chanceless with most of his runs coming square of the wicket.
The Leicestershire openers set off aggressively and were soon up to 4 runs
an over. Iain Sutcliffe looked as if he was making amends for his dropped
catch earlier on in the day and quickly raced into his thirties. He took a
liking to the bowling of Chapple who was bowling far too short for this type
of wicket.
Chris Schofield the leg-spinner picked up 3 wickets in the first innings and
he was soon brought into the attack and he made the breakthrough in the
ninth over.
Darren Maddy has had a poor season so far and he was the first to go in
Leicestershires second innings. He tried to cut a ball that was too close to
him and got a thin edge through to the wicket keeper. Schofield being the
successful bowler.
With 30 minutes of play left the Leicestershire batsman continue the fight
to protect their wickets for a full days play on the fourth day of this match.
