Good work by the Delhi top order saw them score 279 for five at close of play on the second day in their Ranji Trophy Super League match against Rajasthan at the Ferozshah Kotla grounds on Sunday.
After the first day on Saturday had been washed out, Delhi won the toss and elected to bat. They lost A Choppra (11) at 32 but for the rest of the day, the home team's batsmen dominated. First Ashu Dani (82) and G Gambhir (33) added 60 runs for the second wicket off 23.2 overs. After Gambhir's departure, Dani and skipper Ajay Sharma (52) put on 63 runs for the third wicket off 18.2 overs. Dani was third out at 155 after having faced 171 balls and hitting eleven fours. Sharma and Virendra Shewag then consolidated by increasing the score by 75 runs during a fourth wicket association that lasted 14.3 overs. While Sharma faced 105 balls and hit seven fours in his 52 before he was run out, the in form Shewag faced just 66 balls for his 64, hitting nine fours. Mithun Minhas (16) and Vijay Dahiya (2) were the not out batsmen when stumps were drawn.
