blammed through midwicket and Brave are into the Hundred final! Milne hits the pitch, Jordan crushes his pull, there's no cutting that off, and having been on the brink of elimination after Akeal's no-ball six, the best bowling unit in the competitions will face it off on Sunday
Brave vs Phoenix, Eliminator at London, Men's Hundred, Aug 17 2024 - Ball by Ball Commentary
Match tied (Brave won the Super Over)
9.18pm What a finish... The Meerkat Match Hero is Jofra Archer.
"Just relieved, thought I gave it away in the second-last over. Some days it happens, some days it doesn't. We've got 11 matchwinners, the team has so much talent. [Ahead of the final} put on compression boots, lots of physio and maybe some meds"
How Phoenix failed to win that, only they will know. They needed three runs from four balls, and blew it. That will haunt them for a while. But for now, it's Oval Invincibles versus Southern Brave for the Men's Hundred 2024. See you tomorrow!
Just a single needed from two balls... it's so close now
solid contact on the drive through the line, more circumspect than the initial plan might have been. But Jordan's straight blade found space at long-on, and Pollard was hurtling back for the second
lovely bowling and so unlucky! Attacking the stumps at pace, Jordan fences down the line and inside-edges through the vacant fine leg!
fired in on a full length, 90mph, a lusty swing through the line, Duckett gathers at mid-on and chooses the wrong end! Jordan wasn't in the frame at the keeper's end!
9.08pm Out come the Phoenix fielders. I wonder if there'll be less confusion about the Brave batting options. And they've gone for the rawest power imaginable. Pollard and Jordan are the chosen pair, the logic being that between them, they'll connect with a couple out of five, surely!
9.04pm So, Brave require 8 for a place in the final. Adam Milne is the man with the ball for Phoenix
superb bowling from Archer! Right in at the blockhole from round the wicket, another swish to nothing from Bethell, they rush the single and though there's a review for the run-out, Brave's job for part one is done. Sure enough, Bethell is caught short on the second run. There wasn't much more he could do
lovely bowling, 88mph, wide yorker, hits his mark with pinpoint precision, the batter can only open the face and steal the single to point
swings hard to the leg-side again, doesn't connect properly this time as midwicket swoops
wonderful strike! Full length from round the wicket, following the left-hander on a very full length, but Bethell lashed up into his stroke and beat wide long-on
Livingstone cannot believe it... and out comes Jacob Bethell, who we didn't even see as an option out there!
full length, wide line, clattered so hard to backward point! That is a vicious strike, almost blasting Leus du Plooy off his feet!
8.53pm So, we have our hitters, it's Moeen Ali and Liam Livingstone. Ben Duckett and, maybe, Jamie Smith are also padded up for options
Jofra Archer, inevitably, has the ball ... but there's a change in Phoenix's batters. Livingstone and Smith will be opening after all
A bit of a late switch, it seems. Everyone is making it up as they go along
