6.2 to S Dhawan, Dhawan is gone. Dhawan jumps out of the crease again, Mathews bowls an offcutter, shortish, outside leg, Dhawan is nowhere near it but goes ahead with the shot, opening the face and guiding this to slip. Second time this series that Dhawan has been dismissed stepping out this series. Live by the sword, die by it. Also Jayawardene's 200th ODI catch. First to 200. 27/1

20.3 to V Kohli, Kohli is walking, it seems. This is plumb. Misses the length, and goes back to a full ball. To make it worse, this doesn't turn. Skids through, stays low, catches him dead in front. 76/2 26.6 to KD Karthik, lovely delivery. Karthik is stunned. Should have possibly played forward. Lots of revs and effort in this, pitches on a length, on middle and off. Karthik stays back in defence, the ball turns appreciably, beats the outside edge, and hits the off stump. 111/3

2.1 to WU Tharanga, Bhuvneshwar strikes in his first spell again. It is incredible how many times he does that. Short of a length, just outside off, Tharanga follows it a little lazily. The ball gets a good lift, takes the edge, and Raina at second slip is wider than usual. And you know what, the ball has found Raina as if it were the bull's eye. 14/1 2.2 to KC Sangakkara, Bhuvneshwar on a hat-trick. Sanga seems to have got a shocker from umpire Nero. He is not pleased with this one. This is short of a length, and has hit him over the knee roll on the back pad. Also there is a doubt whether it pitched within the stumps. Waiting for the replay now. Replays confirm my doubts: pitched outside leg, and bouncing over the stumps. Sanga has indeed got a shocker. 14/2 6.6 to DPMD Jayawardene, Bhuvneshwar has three. And this is a huge wicket. Of the man who is best placed to counter these conditions. Jayawardene tries a calculated risk, but he has calculated wrong. Backs away to make room and cut, and at no point makes an effort to keep it down. However, the ball bounces a touch extra, and goes much finer and much further than Jayawardene wants it to go. A sitter for third man. 27/3 8.3 to HDRL Thirimanne, Bhuvneshwar is close to getting a five-for in a 26-over game. Thirimanne too takes a risk, and it is not an outlandish risk. He backs away a little to try and go through the covers. Takes this length ball from outside leg, and times it very nicely, but he has neither got the elevation nor has he missed the fielder. Finds Kohli at cover to perfection. 31/4

24.4 to SL Malinga, slower ball, all over. Mainga hits this clean, but Jadeja leaps at mid-on to take the catch. 96/10

21.1 to HMRKB Herath, it doesn't seem we will need those five over. Short, outside off, Herath's pull is limp, and an easy catch towards mid-off. 84/8 23.2 to LHD Dilhara, another wicket. Short of a length, bowled cross seam, which gets him the extras bounce, goes off the shoulder of the bat for a soft one-handed take to Karthik who is held in a warm embrace by second slip, Raina. 87/9

13.6 to AD Mathews, second grab, but that will do. Too good again. Quick, flat, on off, has to play at it, but the ball still turns. The moisture is making the ball do a lot of things here. And then it takes the edge, and it bounces extra too, which is evident from how it has hit the top of Karthik's glove. He recovers well to take the ricochet. 56/5 15.6 to LD Chandimal, wild wild shot. How do you explain this? Jadeja is bowling quick darts that are turning a long way. How can you even think of dancing down the wicket to him and slog away like there is no tomorrow? Chandi does just that, and is stumped by a mile. Was never behind the line of the ball. He would have been stumped even if the ball had not turned. West Indies won't enjoy watching this shot. India will relish it. 63/6

18.6 to BMAJ Mendis, timber. Yorker, squeezes under Mendis's bat, takes the toe end actually, and bounces into the middle stump. Almost sure of a repeat of this match-up in the final. 78/7 |
