A solid first win for Nepal. Their next match is against the hosts while Hong Kong meet Afghanistan. It was a pleasure bringing you the game. Till the next one, ciao ciao.
"I think to keep them to 149 was a decent effort," says Jamie Atkinson. "I think it was a decent bowling effort but the batting was disappointing. The pitch suited our bowling and we were happy to keep them down. "
We have a good team spirit and the boys were really hungry," says Paras Khadka. "We have a huge fan following. We hope to play good cricket and we hope to continue that way. We have to start all over again ahead of the next game and take the positives from this game."
Eighty runs, you heard it right! Nepal have outbatted and outbowled Hong Kong completely in this debut match for both teams. Fielding wasn't needed much as the bowlers repeatedly hit the stumps. What a slump for Hong Kong! They were 58 for 3 in the 11th before Regmi and Gauchan ripped through the bottom half and the next seven could add only 11 runs. Those 80 runs mean that Nepal have overtaken Bangladesh to top the table.
"Our team won and I contributed, so I am very happy," says Shakti Gauchan, who is the Man of the Match. "I watch a lot of football, I follow Machester United and Chelsea, but I love cricket. The ball was skidding and it helped me."
Uwaisul Karnain: "How nicely Mukhiya set it up for the tailender, 2 bouncers followed by a well directed yorker. That summed-up the Nepal's performance tonight. Simply briliant! "
