Ray Jennings, the former coach of South Africa, has said he was approached by the Bangalore Royal Challengers franchise for the possibility of a coaching assignment in the second season of the IPL.
"I was in India by chance and attended one of the team's matches where I spoke to the guys [representatives of the team] and they showed some interest, " Jennings told Rapport, an Afrikaans weekend paper.
However, Jennings says he is yet to decide on his next course of action. "At this stage, I am waiting to hear how serious they are about my involvement and should have a clearer picture by the end of next week about what their plans are," he said.
Jennings, who is currently the coach of the South African Under-19 team, said: "it is also too early to speculate about my future with the U-19 team but Gerald Majola [Cricket South Africa's chief executive] is aware of my interest in the IPL."
Bangalore, the IPL's second-most expensive franchise, had a poor first season, winning four of their 14 matches to finish second-last. This was despite having the likes of Rahul Dravid, Jacques Kallis, Dale Steyn, and Mark Boucher in their ranks.
