Trinidad and Tobago edged to their second successive win, beating Canada by 3 wickets with 10 balls to spare on Tuesday, coming back from 4 for 20 to reach their target of 168. The hosts were indebted to the opener Erica George and Waveney Williams who put on a partnership of 143 for the fifth wicket. Williams made 51.
In contrast to the rain and damp of Sunday's opening tour match, the sun pounded down on the Shaw Park, Scarborough, Tobago. Canada's opening bowlers, Joanna White and Meara Crawford each took 2 early wickets as the hosts tumbled to 20 for 4. Spinner Deshanee Yamathugoda chipped in with 2 wickets as Canada showed fighting spirit. But it was not quite enough and a boundary from George brought her score to 56 runs cemented the win for Tobago.
Canada scored 167 for 8 from 40 overs after choosing to bat. Captain Mona Persaud top-scored with 42 not out. But the largest contribution to the total came from some wayard Tobago bowling that gave away 81 runs in wides.
Canada face the Trinidad and Tobago Under-21 team at the University of West Indies ground in St Augustine, Trinidad, on Thursday.
