Hampshire and Warwickshire continued their practice match today, with the visitors completing the seventeen overs remaining to complete the allotted 50.
Nick Knight and Ian Bell both retired overnight, with Ostler and Trott completing their task, finishing on 136-3 (2 wickets retired out), some 22 runs short of the Hampshire tally.
All the Hampshire bowlers performed well, with Mullally the pick with 1-18 from 11 overs.
The captains and coaches decided on a similar format, this time of 45 overs per side with Hampshire again batting first.
Derek Kenway and Nic Pothas both posted half centuries, after Brown and Hamblin were dismissed with 5 runs on the board. Both Kenway (57 with 10 fours and a six) and Pothas 50 (7 fours) retired out, to give the other batsmen practice time. Hampshire completed their 45 overs on 159 for 6. Daniel Pretorious, Warwickshire's South African bowler was the pick with 3 for 14.
Warwickshire struggled early on, losing their first four wickets for 37, the Hampshire seamers tying the batters down with accurate and at time pacy bowling, despite the damp outfield. Brown and Trott recovered well, but Shaun Udal was on hand to pick up a further two wickets, as the visitors completed on 125-6.
A very satisfactory exercise, commented team manager Paul Terry, who now takes his team to Canterbury for Easter to take on Kent, before the all important start to their Championship starter against Durham next Friday.
