The opening fortnight of the 2003 season has seen several senior players
pick up injuries, and here is an update on their current situation.
Steve James had fluid removed from the joint of his left knee last
week. He is due to see a specialist on 1st May and it's unlikely that
he'll play in the friendly against Middlesex on Friday.
Darren Thomas sustained an injury as he was bowling in the
Championship match against Derbyshire over the Easter Bank Holiday.
Darren underwent an operation on 23rd April and scans revealed a vertical tear
in the lateral cartilage. Erring on the side of caution, he is likely to be out of
action for five to six weeks from the date of the operation.
The Derbyshire match claimed its second victim when Michael Kasprowicz pulled up
with a quadracep (thigh muscle) strain on the second day. Specialist advice suggested
resting for two to three weeks, but Michael is hopeful of playing in the Glamorgan Dragons first
NCL match of the season against Leicestershire on 4th May.
