†AUSTRALIA v SRI LANKA 1987-88

At Adelaide, January 10

15-Apr-1989
At Adelaide, January 10. Australia won by 81 runs. Toss: Australia. A splendid, courageous century by Boon set up an easy victory for Australia. After reaching his second century in one-day internationals, Boon, who was suffering from dehydration, was unwell at the crease, but continued after treatment. His 122 from 131 balls contained fifteen boundaries. McDermott, promoted in the batting order, struck one of the longest straight sixes seen at the ground, carrying to the Cathedral end mound. The Australian bowlers, of whom Dodemaide once again was the pick, went through the motions in the heat, dismissing Sri Lankan batsmen at regular intervals. Mahanama's entertaining half-century came from 78 deliveries.
Man of the Match: D. C. Boon. Attendance: 14,826.
