Bangladesh's domestic cricket will begin in last week of November.
Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolitan (CCDM) has decided to
kick-off the season through the Damal Memorial Tournament on November
28.
The tournament will be followed by the premier league. But the fixture
of the league is yet to be finalised. "We are expecting to begin the
league in December," said CCDM Chairman Tanveer Haidar. CCDM has
decided to hold the Premier Division League with 80-over matches to
give the cricketers more time at the crease.
The decision was taken as Bangladesh's willo-wielders in international
matches always showed failure due to their impatience.
"The 80-over matches will prepare the cricketers for three or four
dayers in stepping into Test cricket," said an official at Bangladesh
Cricket Board, the guardian body of the CCDM.
As the Premier Division League will be 80-over matches, there will not
be any super league. However, like previous years, the First
Division League will be double leg basis and the matches be 50-over.
Meanwhile, the date of cricketers transfer has been deferred to
November 10- 13. Earlier it was scheduled from October 10-13. "It has
been deferred as the national team will be participating ACC Trophy
in early October," said a CCDM official. Following the guidance of
the BCB, he informed that the CCDM has decided to allow two foreign
cricketers to play for a team in a Premier Division League match.
Registration would be possible for four players.
In First Division League, three players will be allowed to be
registered and one to play in any given match.
In the previous years, the cricket grounds in Dhaka witnessed world
famous cricketers like Wasim Akram, Arjuna Ranatunga, Jayasuriya,
Ajay Jadeja and Neil Fairbrother in league matches.
