John Harmer, the former England women's coach, has emerged as a candidate for the post of Bangladesh coach, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced today. Harmer will compete with Australian Jamie Siddons and Dave Houghton, the former Zimbabwe batsman, though the board is yet to announce a date for the interview.
"Harmer will come to Dhaka shortly to make a presentation before us," Gazi Ashraf Hossain, a board official, told Reuters.
Harmer played one season for the Victoria Second XI in Australia, in 1960-61, though he's better known for his career as a coach. He coached the Australian women's team before working with the England team between 2001 and 2003.
Shaun Williams has been in charge of the Bangladesh side following Dav Whatmore's resignation after the home series against India earlier this year, though his stint was only temporary.
