Barbados took just 15.2 overs to complete an 84-run victory over Jamaica in the Carib Beer Cup final at the Mount Gay's North Stars Cricket Club in St Lucy, ending an amazing season in which they won every league game they played.
Jamaica began the day needing 131 more runs to win with four wickets in hand, but each of Barbados's four bowlers took a wicket apiece, as Jamaica were all out for 115 inside 75 minutes. The prospects of a Barbados victory meant that thousands packed the ground at the start of play.
Odean Brown (8) was the first to go, caught by Kurt Wilkinson in the gully off a lifter from Ian Bradshaw (77 for 7). Carlton Baugh followed with no addition to the score, when Pedro Collins trapped him lbw on the back foot for 0.
Nehemiah Perry and Daren Powell then briefly put the celebrations on hold with a stand of 30 - although both were dropped before they had scored - but the lone flicker of hope was extinguished when Perry was leg-before to Tino Best for 13 (107 for 9).
The end came when Powell attempted to drive Corey Collymore and edged to Floyd Reifer at first slip, triggering an invasion by the jubilant supporters.
Despite Barbados's remarkable season, they begun this match on a terrible note, conceding a first-innings lead of 116. But they fought back magnificently on the third day, with their last four wickets adding 141 runs, well over the margin of victory in the end.
